As promised, The Bachelorette Season 16 is proving to be quite dramatic already. Here’s our official Guess the Rose recap in case you missed it.

The first 30 minutes of the show were alllll about Covid and maybe rightly so. Covid has been the center of our lives for the past few months. We saw the process of the Bachelorette quarantine bubble and that Clare would finallllly begin her journey to find love…again!

With the infamous words of every Bachelorette, “Bring on the men!”

We met all 31 of Clare’s prospects. The men were creative as usual using props, catchy one-liners, and all while wearing short pants and no socks. There must have been a sock shortage in Palm Desert. There was even a guy in a straight jacket…which he kept on all. night. long.

Then we met Dale and Clare openly told us she “knew it!” and she “feels like she just met her husband!” leaving us to wonder does love at first sight really exist or what could “I knew it!” possibly mean?

I have to say ABC chose some very interesting men this season. If you dive deep into their bio’s you will see that all of the men have legitimate job’s, and most have nice personalities. This was really refreshing after a couple of seasons of very young candidates with jobs like influencer, unemployed, and chicken enthusiast (oh yeah, that really happened i.e. Tiara Soleim.)

I’m not ageist by any means but it’s nice to see a group of guys that are “here for the right reasons” right? I guess we will find out as the season progresses.

As usual there was some kind of “I know you or your circumstances outside of the show,” drama with Tyler C 2.0 and Yosef. According to Tyler C, Yosef has been recklessly messaging women on Instagram. If you aren’t sure what that means, it’s ok because we don’t either. Clare let us know right out of the gate that she wasn’t going to stand for any of this drama and decided to have the three of them talk it out. Yosef said he wasn’t, and Clare left them to chat with each other as she went on to talk to more men.

Clare had a really nice conversation with Blake Moynes where she left us on the edge of our seats when she confronted him about breaking the rules and contacting her before the show began. We could all see the fear in his eyes until she let him know how much she appreciated his contact during a tough time. I’m not going to lie, I thought this guy had the first impression rose in the bag.

But I had forgotten about Dale at this point. Dale and Clare had a nice conversation in which he asked about her mother and then they hugged and she went in for the kiss but he didn’t realize it until she pulled him back in. I’m not sure how to feel just yet, but we certainly know how Clare feels. Dale received the first impression rose.

It was tonight that we also learned that our new favorite catch-phrase of this season would be “showed up.”

Fun fact: in Bachelorette folklore many of the first impression roses have also been the final roses. I guess we will call it a women’s intuition.

SPOILERS AHEAD! Turn back now if you have not watched yet!!!

No seriously, don’t keep scrolling if you aren’t caught up!!!

During the rose ceremony, it went pretty quickly. Here is a list of men who did NOT receive a rose on night one.

  • Robby
  • Jordan M.
  • Page
  • Jeremy
  • AJ
  • Chris
  • Mike
  • Tyler C.

In typical ABC fashion both guys with beef would be forced to stick around for a least a few episodes but only Yosef made the cut. Will he create drama on his own later???

I really think Mike Tobin is the new Grocery Store Joe in the fact that Bachelor Nation will be seeing him again.

We were also teased with a promo that Clare does indeed “blow up” the Bachelor and that Dale may not be who we all think he is. AND that Clare might possibly not be the Bachelorette by the end of the season? Gasp! Who could it be?

I guess we will just have to tune in next week to find out!
